Gary graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1981 and received his B.A. in Political Science with Honors from UA Huntsville in 1978. He has been practicing law in Alabama since 1981 and began his private practice in Scottsboro in 1982. Before entering private practice, Gary spent a year as general counsel for an insurance company in Alabama. The Lackey Law Firm has grown under his leadership and with his focus on Auto Accidents, Truck Wrecks, Wrongful Death, Injury Law, Divorce, Custody, DUI, Criminal Defense, Health Care Law and Civil Litigation. Gary graduated from Scottsboro High School in 1975. He has recovered millions of dollars for his clients through jury verdicts and settlements.
Gary is a member of the Mountain Lakes Chamber of Commerce, past President of the Jackson County Bama Club, a member of the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the Jackson County Shrine Club, and a member of the Executive Committee of the Jackson County Bama Club. He is a dual member of the Scottsboro and Hollywood Masonic Lodges. While attending law school he was a member of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity and received American Jurisprudence Awards in the study of Evidence, Property II, and Constitutional Law.
Gary enjoys practicing law with his son and daughter and in his free time he enjoys spending time with his four grandchildren. He also enjoys the outdoors, hunting and traveling with his family.
Justin graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2009 and graduated magna cum laude with his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Alabama in 2006. He has been practicing law since 2009 at The Lackey Law Firm. Justin focuses his practice on Injury Law, Car Wrecks, Criminal Defense, DUI and Traffic, and Civil Litigation. In his years of practice, Justin has helped his clients recover millions of dollars for their injuries.
Justin grew up in Jackson County, Alabama and graduated from Scottsboro High School in 2003. He has two sisters, Jennifer Lackey and Lauren Lackey Shankles. His sister Lauren teaches at a college in Florida and is a graduate of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa with both a BA and Master’s Degree and Jennifer practices law with Justin at The Lackey Law Firm. Justin is married to Lauren Durham Lackey and together they have twins, Isaac and Emma.
He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Jackson County Bama Club, Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Jackson County Democratic Executive Committee, and a former member of the Board of Directors of The Promenade and The Oaks Homeowners Association, Inc. where he served as President of the HOA. He is the past president of the Jackson County Bama Club and is also a past member of the Board of Directors of the Mountain Lakes Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the Jackson County Shrine Club, Scottsboro Masonic Lodge, and Cahaba Shrine. He and his wife are members of the First Baptist Church in Scottsboro.
As a student at the UA School of Law, Justin participated in Trial Advocacy for Criminal Litigation and the Criminal Defense Clinic. He received an Excellence for the Future Award in the Criminal Defense Clinic.
Jennifer Lackey – Jennifer graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2011 and earned her B.S. in Criminal Justice from Faulkner University in 2008. Jennifer grew up in Jackson County, Alabama, and graduated from Scottsboro High School in 2000.
Jennifer is following in the footsteps of her father, Gary W. Lackey, being a strong advocate for the people of Madison County, Jackson County, Dekalb County and the surrounding region. Her areas of practice include Divorce, Custody, Child Support, Criminal Defense, Personal Injury, DUI and Traffic Tickets, Car Wrecks, Estates, and Wills. Whatever the legal need, Jennifer’s top priority is always to meet the needs of her clients and make a positive difference in their lives.
Jennifer is married to Nick Pope and she enjoys spending time with her children on Lake Guntersville and attending Alabama Football games. She has a daughter, Bailey, and a son, Lucas, both of whom attend school in Scottsboro.
